Anāhitā Diamond is an award-winning writer, scholar and curator based between London, Cambridge and Oxford. She is also the founder of Penwoman International, a non-profit literary organisation dedicated to advancing the writing and voices of girls and women.

Her first book, Breaking Silence: A Family Memoir of the Daughters of Iran, will be published by Canongate (UK), Summit Books (USA) and Simon & Schuster (Canada) in fall 2027, with translation rights sold across twelve territories. Spanning two centuries of Iranian history, the book follows two families through generations of their women, asking what silence protects, what it permits, and what it costs to break it.

Diamond’s writing and commentary on Iranian affairs, particularly women’s rights and status, have appeared widely in The New York Times, The Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph, and across CNN, the BBC, Sky News, Channel 4 News and Al Jazeera. She has also worked with journalists and newsrooms, including the Financial Times, Tortoise Media and Zandland, providing analysis and insight both on and off the record.

Alongside her literary and journalistic work, Diamond’s academic research has examined contested information environments and the formation of public narratives during periods of political crises, particularly in countries where freedom of speech and the press are constrained. Her work and research interests have brought her into institutions including the United Nations, UK Parliament, European Parliament, and Ditchley Foundation. She has also been invited to deliver talks and/or workshops at the University of Oxford (Balliol College, Christ Church College, St Edmund's Hall, St John's College, St Antony's College, St Anne's College, and Reuben College), King’s College London, SOAS, Amnesty International, UN Women, among other esteemed institutions.

Across these different mediums and spaces, her work returns to questions of who shapes a narrative and why, what enters the record, what is kept outside it, and what survives in spite of both.
